8 Surprisingly Useful Road Trip Tips

Nothing is more enjoyable than a nice, long road trip. Whether you are driving across the country or just up to your in-laws for the weekend, there are some tips that will make your journey much more pleasant and efficient. We have put together 8 surprisingly useful road trip tips for you!

-Plan your route before you leave. This will save time and possible frustration along the way! If there are certain things that you want to visit, make sure they’re on the map first.

-Don’t drive too late or too early in order to avoid traffic jams or rush hour. The best times of day to hit the road for a trip like this is between 11 AM – 12 PM (for afternoon trips) and between midnight – three o’clock AM (for morning trips). These hours tend not to have as much traffic congestion as other parts of the day do so it’s better for everyone involved if you plan accordingly.

-Eat before you reach your destination. This makes for a much more enjoyable visit and will ensure that everyone involved has enough energy to make it through the whole day/night!

-Use apps like GasBuddy or PlugShare to locate gas stations with low prices in real time, so you can fill up when it’s cheapest. There is nothing worse than running out of gas on the side of the road – just use one of these apps next time and we promise that won’t be an issue anymore!

-Bring water bottles along. You never know when someone may get thirsty during a long car ride, so having drinkable liquids available at all times is always best in case anyone needs something to sip on while they enjoy their favorite tunes playing from the radio.

-Don’t let your phone die by leaving it plugged into the car charger. This isn’t necessary and can damage both the battery and the cord that you’re using, so don’t do it! If need be, purchase a portable USB charging bank to have on hand in case of emergencies – this way you will always have power at your fingertips.

-Keep an eye on the weather. If there is a huge storm coming your way, it may be wise to wait until the following day before setting off on your journey. Road conditions can get very dangerous if they’re wet or icy and you don’t want anyone getting hurt!

-Make sure everyone in the car knows where they are going so that nobody gets lost along the way. This will not only save time but help avoid distractions as well – especially when driving through unfamiliar territory at night.
